What is Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI)?
Employment Practices Liability Insurance is coverage that protects against wrongful acts arising from employment practices for all staff members, including owners and contractors. The policy would extend coverage to directors and officers, management personnel, and employees. However, illegal activities or actions with malicious intent are not included.
Employment Practices Liability can protect your business from 2 different staffing-related exposures: First party and Third party litigation.
- First party claims include allegations of discrimination, wrongful termination and sexual harassment of employees from other staff members, managers, or owners. The policy covers claims from a variety of other types of inappropriate workplace conduct, including but not limited to: employment-related defamation, invasion of privacy, failure to promote, etc.
- Third party claims include allegations against employees of harassment or inappropriate behavior towards clients or other third parties, or vice versa. This can include, but is not limited to: videos taken of your clients by staff members or inter-gym relationships.
